Globální Jih

Globální Jih (translated as Global South) refers to a concept in international relations that encompasses countries located primarily in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and parts of the Middle East, which are often characterized by lower economic development compared to countries in the Global North (such as North America, Western Europe, and parts of East Asia). The term emphasizes both geographical and socio-economic distinctions, highlighting issues of inequality, development, and post-colonial dynamics.

In the context of global politics, the Global South is often associated with discussions on development aid, trade relations, and cultural exchange, as well as movements advocating for social justice, human rights, and sustainable development. The term is increasingly used to foster a sense of solidarity among nations facing similar challenges, including issues of poverty, climate change, and political instability.

The Global South is not a strict geographical descriptor but rather signifies a complex interplay of economic, political, and social factors. It serves as a platform for exploring alternative perspectives and approaches to global governance and development, often contrasting the historical dominance of the Global North.
