Secure Access Service Edge

Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) is a network architecture model that combines wide area networking (WAN) capabilities with comprehensive security functions to support the secure access of users and devices to applications and data, regardless of their location. SASE integrates various technologies, including software-defined networking (SD-WAN), cloud security, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), firewall as a service (FWaaS), secure web gateway (SWG), and more into a unified framework.

This model aims to provide seamless, secure connectivity by enforcing consistent security policies across all network traffic, whether users are on-premises or remote. By leveraging cloud-based services, SASE allows organizations to simplify and optimize their networking and security management while enhancing user experience. The primary goal of SASE is to address the challenges of traditional networking and security approaches, particularly in the context of increasing remote work, mobile device usage, and cloud adoption.
